After his highly acclaimed debut single ‘Is It Real’, West London singer/songwriter Emiko is now finally back with his follow-up ‘R U Down’ which exclusively premiered on Westside FM radio - a single which arrives perfectly in time for cuffing season.
Known for his legendary freestyles on Instagram, the soothing yet catchy R&B song came about when Emiko once again delivered an episode of his #FridayFeels series in which he used the beat of Masego and FKJ’s joint Tadow. Masego got notice of it and praised his freestyle on twitter which was then followed by Emiko deciding to develop the freestyle into a song with his producer Tremaine J in just one day.
“The song is about the situation when you feel like your life is good the way it is, but then a girl comes into your life and kind of flips your head around and changes your life completely - in a positive way. It’s about taking the chance to get together with her and living in the moment because life is short.”
Taking inspiration from the likes of Ray BLK, SZA, Daniel Caesar and Frank Ocean, among others, ‘R U Down’ showcases the singers astonishingly pure and passionate vocals once again.
